Indeed it is depicted as trap Island since whoever finds himself/herself in the Island, never comes out of the Island alive. At the Island, he meets General Zaroff who turns merciful and treats him with the utmost respect (Connell Richard, 16). Zaroff later discloses his personality to Rainsford.
